Welcome to PolarHistory.Com We are happy and excited to be a part of growing group of internet sites dedicated to the study of the exploration of the polar regions. This site will focus on the men and women that explored the poles. Early as well as modern explorers and expeditions will be covered. Postal history of polar explorations will be covered. A goal of this site is to honor all of those that participated in polar explorations. Rosters of participants will be developed. This will be relatively easy for the United States Ice Stations/Islands of the North Pole but considerably more difficult to list all the 4,000+ individuals that participated in Operation High Jump with Admiral Byrd in 1946-47. All of you that have participated in polar research, were part of a ship or aircraft crew or have a connection or interest in polar history, you are encouraged to contact the webmaster and add your experiences to this site. This site will be no better or worse than the sum of all its parts, you. As expeditions required teamwork, this site to be successful will also require teamwork. I look forward to your input. A special thanks to those of you that have contributed to the growth of this site. Questions or Comments? Disclaimer - This site is privately operated as a non-commercial site.
