Cancelled on opening day 09 September 2004 North Pole 33 was established on 9 September 2004. The cover above is postmarked with that date. The station was launched from the research vessel "Akademik Fedorov" (ice class), ice-breaker "Arctica" and a MI-8 helicopter. This was the 21st cruise of the R/V Akademik Fedorov. The Ice Station was located at latitude 85.05 north, longitude 156.31 at 12:00 GMT. The team consisted of 11 personnel. In the Spring of 2005 this number will increase. The new Russian drifting station is named after Yu. B. Konstantinov.

News: The present radio operator of SP-33 (Vladimir Levchenko) does not operate an amateur radio station, but I heard from reliable sources that Victor may relief him around September or October this year, so I expect that station SP-33 again will be on the air for amateur radio stations!
